"I am a 55 year old male, with fair skin and red hair, and I have been diagnosed with many basal cell carcinomas over the past ten years. Dr. Skelsey and her dedicated team of nurses have removed three carcinomas for me – one from each ear lobe and one from my cheek – through the Mohs process. I have never met a more caring and professional team of providers in my life. Obviously, something we all worry about when we have surgery on our face is our appearance. I am pleased to say that no one has ever noticed either operation on my ear, and the incision on my face is barely noticeable. They are simply the best!"

REJUVENATION AND SKIN CANCER PREVENTION

Dr. Skelsey utilizes laser procedures to treat dark spots, skin blemishes, varicose and spider veins, and unwanted hair. Dr. Skelsey will carefully evaluate your individual condition and suggest the appropriate procedure to achieve the best results.

LASER SURGERY AND LIGHT THERAPY
For more severe conditions that penetrate beneath the surface layer of the epidermis such as deep acne scarring, laser surgery is often the most successful treatment. Laser surgery offers the following general benefits:*

  • Improved therapeutic results
  • Reduced risk of infection
  • "Bloodless" surgery with most lasers
  • An alternative to traditional scalpel surgery, in some cases
  • Less scarring, in most cases
  • Precisely controlled surgery, which limits injury to normal skin
  • Safe and effective outpatient, same-day surgery for many skin conditions

FRACTIONAL RESURFACING (Fraxel): Tiny areas of skin are microscopically targeted for treatment by a 1550 nm infrared laser in order to remodel dermal collagen without causing damage to the surface. This results in improvement in wrinkles around the eyes, acne scars, age spots and melasma. There is minimal downtime.

INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL) PHOTO REJUVENATION THERAPY: A recent technological advancement, this is a minimally-invasive procedure that only treats the needed areas while leaving the surrounding tissues intact. This procedure results in healthier, younger-looking skin. The redness of rosacea can be dramatically reduced, as well as brown spots—freckles and age spots, and sun damage. Typically performed on the face, IPL can also treat the neck, chest and hands where sun damage is often most obvious. No recovery time is required.

PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY (PDT): A procedure that uses a photosensitizing drug to apply light therapy selectively to target pre-skin cancer, acne and sun damage. PDT can help clear the skin of premalignant growths known as actinic keratoses which occur mainly on the face, chest, arms and hands. It is also effective for moderate-severe acne. A series of treatments can put acne into remission for months as well as improve some scarring without taking oral medications. There are many less common conditions that PDT can be used for, including hidradenitis suppurativa, Bowen’s disease, superficial basal cell carcinoma.
